Roped-In: the second step in Temple’s progressive core curriculum
A weekend intensive on the foundations of rope play through the lens of embodiment and intentionality.
Our intro class Rope 0 is a prerequisite to this class.
A weekend long intensive on October 5th and 6th
10/5 and 10/6 from 12-5pm
These classes will cover:
Basic tension, frictions, and knots with some fundamental skills and drills;
Somatics for rope;
Body handling and affective rope skills;
Floor-based predicaments.
Join Mrghy and friends on this journey to begin an intentional, body-based, connective rope practice. While some time will be spent on rope handling techniques, this series will focus on both ends of the rope, to serve both folks giving and receiving it. Switching is welcome but not necessary!
Each session will include a discussion, a short demo, and plenty of practice time.
In order to promote continuity of learning and community trust, we’d like to have a max of 10 pairs for the whole series. Drop-ins will NOT be available for these, and registered pairs should remain the same throughout (learning buddies are the best!).
Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome, and any comfortable outfit you like to move in. We will have some jute rope to use for practice, but we encourage you to bring your own (so you can practice at home between sessions!). 2-3 pieces will suffice, any material is welcome.
Mrghy has been working on embodiment in and out of rope for two decades. Rope has been a friend for almost 10 years, and a fundamental practice for the past 3. She brings her expertise in embodiment, somatics, trauma-informed practices, and mindfulness to the experience of rope as mainly a bottom and more recently as a learning rigger. She is passionate about sharing information about trauma, pain science, and vulnerable conditions such as hypermobility, neurodivergence, and addiction with communities of all kinds, and those involved in shibari, kink, and BDSM in particular. She co-founded Temple in Bushwick in 2019.
Must take all days: 10/5 and 10/6 12-5pm
RSVP is $280 per tying pair for the 2 sessions
