Meet temple
At its core, temple is a play space.
Temple is a safer space to explore the intersection of mind, body, spirit, and artistic practice.
Temple is conceived, designed, and built to be a vessel, a container, a sacred place, a sanctuary, and a body in and of itself.
Temple is built on the principles of mutual respect, consent, risk acknowledgment and mitigation, permissibility, inclusivity, equality, freedom of creativity, and self-expression.
Temple is founded to make space for a variety of practitioners to perform their work. These practitioners and their practices are the foundation that grounds Temple in place.
Temple is specifically constructed to accommodate suspension work.
Temple is located in Bushwick, NY
The “House of Three Beams” emblem refers directly to three steel support beams that span the room, anchored to the walls of the space, just below the roof.
Temple is a space for people interested in or active in BDSM and Rope Bondage to assemble.
Temple is committed to providing educational opportunities to engage with technical and theoretical skill development from a diverse group of people working with a variety of perspectives and experiences. It is dedicated to educating and sharing information on building and developing better practices within consent models and negotiation styles, It’s a space to practice and build on existing knowledge and skill sets; host gatherings for special interest groups and exclusive community identities; hold private interactions between partners. Temple strives to be a supportive environment to take risks and learn to repair when harm occurs.
Temple strives to adhere to the Kink Educators and Producers Code of Conduct. Community agreements can vary from event to event, and we ask that you be mindful of them.
Similarly, we ask that you hold yourself, us, and the rest of the community accountable when incidents happen. You can always reach out to us directly or fill out our Incident Report Form, which will be received by our independent collaborators at Safer Spaces Group.
Temple believes in seeking repair in the moment of the incident or directly with those involved and can support community members in doing so through resources.
Temple does not organize or lead accountability processes that involve members of our direct community because it is a conflict of interest.
Temple members are willing to be included in accountability processes as community members and as organizers of a space.
Temple cannot bear responsibility for incidents that occur outside of our space unless a direct request is made to address/ block a person by way of our reporting system.
Temple cannot bear responsibility for any incidents that are not reported directly to our reporting partners with clear requests for direct action.
Temple is committed to taking all necessary actions in accordance with protocol and under the guidance of our third-party team when reports are filed. Reports filed against one of Temple’s organizing members will be treated as all others by the reporting team. This includes avoiding any form of retaliation or punishment against those who filed the report.
We are dedicated to working through incidents following the Transformative Justice Model whenever possible, and we hope to build shareable resources rather than canceling, punishing, shaming, or perpetuating harm.
