Roped-In

Roped-In: the second step in Temple’s progressive core curriculum

A weekend intensive on the foundations of rope play through the lens of embodiment and intentionality. April 5th and 6th, 11am-5pm.

Our intro class Rope 0 is a prerequisite to this class.

Join Masha and friends on this journey to begin an intentional, body-based, connective rope practice. While lots of time will be spent on rope handling and skill building, this course will focus on both ends of the rope, to serve both folks giving and receiving it. Switching is welcome but not necessary!

The classes will cover:

Session 1: Basic tension, frictions, and knots; collapsible and non-collapsible single-column ties. Risk assessment and mitigation, nerve safety overview.

Session 2: Body handling and affective rope skills; how to move a body; how to use rope to move a body. Double-column ties.

Session 3: Somatics for rope; Hojo cuffs and Yuki fix; One-rope practice (Ipponnawa)

Session 4: Floor-based ties; how to use rope to bind a body in a shape for play.

Each session includes a discussion, a short demo, and plenty of practice time, leading to building a full, floor-based rope scene.

There are no technical prerequisites for this course but Rope 0 is required before you can take Roped In.

In order to promote continuity of learning and community trust, we’d like to have a max of 9 pairs for the whole series. Drop-ins will NOT be available for these, and registered pairs should remain the same throughout (learning buddies are the best!).

Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome, and any comfortable outfit you like to move in. We will have some jute rope to use for practice, but we encourage you to bring your own (so you can practice at home between sessions!). 2-3 pieces will suffice, any material is welcome.

RSVP is $280 per tying pair for both days
