Exploring the 3rd/ 4th ropes of TK for Semenawa
With Bänana and Rae
The addition of a 3rd or 4th rope to a TK is a common practice in semenawa, enhancing and enriching the tie by adapting it to our specific needs and intentions. This workshop will focus on understanding how to incorporate these ropes into a variety of situations. Whether used to provide support and secure complex positions like gyaku ebi, optimize a vertical suspension, introduce constraint, restrict breathing, or create a specific aesthetic, these ropes can serve multiple roles.
We will explore the requirements of the TK in more depth, as well as how to integrate the 3rd and 4th ropes effectively. You will also be introduced to different construction techniques, and learn how to creatively freestyle variations tailored to your own needs and preferences.
Level:
Person tying must know how to tie a TK. Person getting tied must be used to floorwork at least.
Bänana’s ropes style could be related to semenawa (ropes of torment). You need to be comfortable with this kind of dynamic. It’s important to have already discussed the framework of your practice (desires, intentions, limits, ways of managing consent)
Material:
A minimum of 5 jute ropes (or hemp eventually), ideally 6mm in diameter and averaging 7-8 meters in length will be required.
Tickets sold as pairs, $120 per tying pair.
$40 deposit, $80 cash at the start of class
RSVP $120 per pair opening on 2/26
